Don is a
March 2002 graduate of the prestigious Ann Arbor Institute of
Massage Therapy (AAIMT) and passed the National Certification in
Massage Therapy and Bodywork (NCTMB) three months later. He is a
professional member of both the American Massage Therapy Association
(AMTA) and past professional member of the Associated Bodywork &
Massage Professionals (ABMP).
He has
specific training from AAIMT in Shiatsu, Sports Massage, and
Reflexology, and Swedish Massage, with additional certification in
Neuromuscular Therapy and Myofascial Release Therapy.
Don has
continued his education through advanced training in therapies
dealing with pain, postural distortion, and anatomical dysfunction
with St. John Neuromuscular Massage Therapy Seminars, and is working
toward being certified as a St. John Therapist.
He
specializes in working with individuals experiencing structural and
postural distortion, biomechanical dysfunction and the accompanying
pain that is often a symptom of the underlying problem.
Don believes
in the benefits of massage himself. Having been a designer and
computer user for many years, he understands from a personal level
the negative results of stress and poor workplace ergonomics.
"Research shows that massage is effective care for a broad range of
ailments, injuries and conditions, particularly for stress," said
Carolyn C. Talley, President of AMTA.
Don enjoys
speaking to groups about massage and self-help techniques.
